In today’s age where information is available at the click of a button, who will agree to my statement,” Truth is Elusive” unless you ask the seekers.
Let’s take the recent feud between India and Canada on the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in the parking lot of a Gurdwara in Surray, British Columbia, Canada. Canadian Prime Minister, Mr Justin Trudeau. in Canadian parliament stated that Canadian Security forces are actively pursuing credible allegations of a potential link between the agents of Govt of India and killing of Nijjar, which the Indian Govt has rejected as baseless and unfounded and has urged its counterpart to provide evidence in support of this serious allegation. Canadian Govt hasn’t produced any evidence yet but its Prime Minister continues to uphold his statement expressing concerns over the killing of its citizen on its own soil by another country infringing upon its sovereignty.
This has created quite a sensation in the political and diplomatic world. The press is hyperactive on this issue and there are publications on print and online media starting from who is Hardeep Singh Nijjar, his background, claims of the Indian Govt on him and the Khalistani activists, statements from Canadian politicians who are divided with some expressing concern on such an allegation without an evidence produced, statement from Indian politicians siding with the Indian Govt, diplomatic statements from Five Eyes partner countries of Canada calling for investigation and stopping short of supporting Canada on their allegations, unconfirmed reports that US intelligence had been the architect behind this allegation and opinions of the global media with respect to possible underlying intents of both countries caught up in this political battle. So much content has been released around the world during the last 10 days but none takes us closer to the truth. They have only triggered speculations.
If we forget about borders, about countries, about diplomatic relationships or political affiliations for a moment, and ask ourselves this question …. if we want to make an allegation as an individual or strongly indicate an allegation against another individual, should we be having an evidence strong enough in my hand that we can share to support such an allegation or observation? The repeated answer that I get is a resounding “YES”… Then why is the Canadian Govt not able to produce any evidence till date since Mr Trudeau made the statement? I don’t get it.. do you? Don’t you think it would have been easier to delay the statement once the evidence was ready to be shared? Why did it have to be rushed? I guess, we will have to wait and let the story unfold, not sure how true the story will be.
