A while back, I wrote a blog called “It’s okay.” But as I start thinking about it more, is it really ok? Does society truly allow us to fail? Is there space for failure in a world where competition is only increasing every day?
As an ambitious 16 year old with high expectations from herself, I often equate disappointments and unmet expectations with ‘failures’… On one hand I’m constantly reminded of the popular quote (that my dad never fails to repeat) – “It’s not how far you fall, but how high you bounce back that counts.” On the other hand, is there even space to fall? It seems to me that each fall creates a black hole that cannot be recovered. We can only move on and prevent the next black hole. But the previous one remains to be judged by society and most importantly, ourselves.
If I’m wrong, am I being too hard on myself? Or is there a clear divider between success and failures that society fails to accept, but follows blindly?
Sorry for the extremely negative post, but just a thought to share…
